Burnt Orangery

We’ve had an amazing couple of months building this beautiful obsidianesque cabin. Enough glass to keep any tomato or chilli plant happy and enough burnt timber to appease the most traditional of Japanese Woodworkers. This amalgamation of contrasting materials has created a stunning piece of work we are all extremely happy with. Shou Sugi Ban is an ancient process whereby the cellulose of the wood is burnt away on the outside layer of wood, making it a hostile environment for fungi and insects alike.
